POSITION SUMMARY: This position plays a pivotal role in supporting the efficient operations of the Snoqualmie Valley community. Your primary responsibilities will involve managing volunteers and assisting the Operations Manager in the overall coordination of all food and non-food donations. The position is primarily in a warehouse-like setting and requires the ability to lift items up to 50 pounds regularly. An ideal candidate will be dependable, have strong leadership skills, have the ability to work independently, and work well with a diverse population, including staff, volunteers, clients, vendors, and the public. The Operations Assistant works collaboratively with other staff members and volunteers to fulfill the food bank’s mission and values within the community.  

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Safely and efficiently unload food and resources from deliveries and donations. Sorting, organizing, and recording all inventory safely and efficiently.     
  • Assist in organizing and storing food products in designated storage areas while adhering to FIFO (First-In-First-Out) principles and ensuring product quality and safety. Reporting low  
  • Conduct visual inspections of incoming food shipments to ensure they meet quality and safety standards. Identify and report any damaged or expired products promptly. 
  • Assist with food ordering and tracking inventory levels to identify products that are running low. Promptly communicate low-stock situations to the Operations Manager to ensure timely replenishment. 
  • Assist with reporting food inventory and safety practices to government agencies.  
  • Provide recommendations to the Operations Manager and/or Executive Director about Food Bank storage and changes to build capacity or distribute additional food.  
  • Menu planning and preparation for Summer Meals, Meals for the Break, and Holiday Programs. 
  • Supervise a team of volunteers to assist in Pantry operations. Coordinate volunteer tasks, ensuring that tasks are assigned and volunteers are engaged and motivated. 
  • Ensures quality customer service to clients through organized, efficient, and respectful distributions and interactions. 
  • Assist customers and/or volunteers with Food Bank Registration. 
  • Act as an ambassador for the Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or Executive Director. 

 QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Excellent client service skills. 
  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs and climb ladders.  
  • Maintain confidentiality of customers, co-workers, and agency in accordance with food bank policy and values. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • A self-motivated, creative, and strategic thinker possessing strong organizational skills and a high degree of attention to detail. 
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion. 
  • Maintains an active Washington State food handlers permit. 
  • Commitment to the mission and values of SVFB. 

30 hours er week, $27/hr.
