Role Overview
The Program Operations Manager provides day-to-day operational leadership across Quantum STEM School and works closely with Cascade Enrichment. This role ensures programs run safely, smoothly, and in compliance with Washington State Early Learning and DCYF requirements. The ideal candidate is a critical thinker and strong decision-maker who can respond quickly, support staff, and step in where needed to keep operations running effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations to ensure child safety, active supervision, appropriate ratios, and licensing compliance
- Make timely, sound decisions in a fast-paced early learning environment
- Provide clear operational direction to staff and reinforce accountability
- Maintain strong working knowledge of DCYF regulations, including supervision, ratios, health, and safety requirements
- Support licensing visits, inspections, documentation, and corrective actions as needed
- Ensure staff complete all required trainings and promptly identify and address any gaps in training, including follow-up support or retraining as necessary
- Step into classrooms as needed to support operations (e.g., covering teacher lunch breaks, maintaining ratios, supporting transitions)
- Support administrative needs such as scheduling, communications, confirmations, and operational follow-through
- Collaborate across programs to ensure consistent expectations, communication, and execution
Description
Minimum Requirements
- MERIT approval (or ability to obtain promptly), including background check, CPR/First Aid, and required training hours
- Prior experience working with young children in a licensed childcare, preschool, or K–12 educational setting
- Strong understanding of DCYF licensing requirements and staff-to-child ratios
- Working knowledge of Washington State Early Learning & Development Guidelines
- Ability to maintain active supervision, assess risk, and make sound decisions in real time
- Clear, professional communication with families and staff
This Role Is a Good Fit If You:
- Anticipate issues and take action before they escalate
- Are confident making decisions without constant direction
- Understand that child safety and compliance are non-negotiable
- Are willing to wear multiple hats to support both classroom and operational needs
This Role Is Not a Good Fit If You:
- Prefer a narrowly defined or desk-only role
- Avoid accountability or timely decision-making
- Are uncomfortable enforcing expectations or licensing standards
